The anterior ear is primarily supplied by the branches of the superficial temporal artery (STA) (white), known as the anterior auricular artery (AAA). Anastomoses are formed between the superficial temporal artery and the posterior auricular arteries (PAA) (gray), as indicated by the arrows. Note the top of these forms a loop-like shape, as described in the first branch of the Hand shaoyang triple energizer meridian. This drawing is based on Houseman et al. (2000)40).
