Fig. 1. Ashi points and classical acupoints. Ashi points can be found near the targeted area according to the patient’s responses (tenderness) in the left column. Among them, classical acupoints have been established based on the empirical knowledge in the right column. For example, LI15 is expected to be located in the depression between the anterior end of lateral border of the acromion and the greater tubercle of the humerus. LI14 (On the lateral aspect of the arm, just anterior to the border of the deltoid muscle, 7 B-cun superior to LI11) and TE13 (On the posterior aspect of the arm, postero-inferior to the border of the deltoid muscle, 3 B-cun inferior to the acromial angle).
