Objective structured clinical examination checklist of auricular acupuncture used in first usability evaluation

Supplies
Hand sanitizer, alcohol swab, a stick for finding acupoints, forceps, press needles, cart (Containers for disposing of materials and disposing of medical waste and damaging waste), timer (or cell phone)

Instruction
Apply press needles to ear acupoints for (non-smoking/obesity/hypertension) for the recipient, and then extract the needle immediately.
Time limit: 5 minutes

1 Did the operator wash his/her hands well before the procedure?
2 Did the operator guide the recipient to pose an appropriate and safe position for the procedure?
3 Did the operator check whether there are any wounds in the treatment area?
4 Did the operator check tenderness using a stick for finding acupoints?
5 Was the treatment area well disinfected with alcohol swab before needling?
6 Was auricular acupuncture applied to the correct acupoint?
7 Was the treatment area well disinfected with alcohol cotton after needle disposal?
8 Were the alcohol swabs used for the procedure disposed of in a medical waste container?
9 Were the press needles used for the procedure disposed of in a damaging waste container?
10 Did the operator wash his/her hands well after the procedure?
11 Did the operator notify the recipient that the procedure is over and explain the precautions?

*Precautions

1) Auricular acupuncture can be left for until 2∼3 days in summer and 1 week in winter.

2) Remove if itchy or redness of the skin occurs.

3) The acupoints can be stimulated by hand even after removing acupuncture.
