Electrophysiological characterization of spikes recorded from the hindlimb sensorimotor cortex adjacent to ischemic injury.

(A) Typical 4 different wave forms and typical distributions of firing pattern from interspike interval histogram and autocorrelogram from putative interneurons and putative pyramidal neurons, respectively. (B) Comparison of two spikes with different time duration of half valley width and of valley to peak width. (C) Plot of valley-to-peak time by the number of neurons. Neurons appeared to form clusters above and below 0.5 ms valley-to-peak time, consistent with others (Barthó et al., 2004). Spike with more 0.5 ms valley-to-peak time was considered as putative pyramidal neuron in the cortex.
