Implantation and stimulation of transcranial electroacupuncture (TEA) device.

(A) Schematic diagram showing location of stimulation electrodes for TEA stimulation. Two stimulation electrodes with 3 mm of length were fixed on the skull covering sensorimotor cortex ipsilateral to focal ischemia. (B) Custom-made implantable TEA device with 12 mm of diameter consists of stimulating electrode, battery, the stimulator that has micro controller to automatically set stimulation frequency and time. (C) Schematic diagram showing implantation of TEA device. Both stimulating electrodes and stimulator were fixed on the skull and then battery was located under skin of neck region.
